Tour to Kangra

In the past, Kangra attracted a lot of plunderers because of the immense wealth stored in Vajreshwari temple. Even Mahmud of Ghazni looted a lot of gold and silver from the temple in 1009 AD. The Tughlaq rulers of the Delhi empire also plundered it in 1360. Till then the area was ruled by the local rulers but later it came into the hands of the British.

Kangra-Sites to Visit

Your tour package would definitely include a visit to the famous Vajreshwari devi temple. The original temple was destroyed in a earthquake, so the new structure was built on the same site. Though it attracts devotees all through the year, the most rush is during the Hindu festivals. Another place worth a visit is Nagar Kot, It is located 2.5kms south of Kangra. Though the fort is crumbling fast, it is still a great place for clicking holiday pictures and seeing the meeting point of Manjhi and Bnaer rivers.
